Moving Woes and July Goals

I moved everything out of my classroom yesterday, and cried on the way home.

You would think it's just a room, but when you spend countless hours there over the course of a year, it's hard to see it all empty and bare, especially with knowing I won't be back at this school- and that there's a chance I won't be at any school this coming year.

Maybe I should be excited that I could just stay at home or work part-time, but I love my job- and honestly, I would really miss it if I wasn't teaching this fall. I really, really hope things fall into place.

Am I the only person who gets weepy for things like moving out of a classroom? I feel a little bit crazy.

Anyway- by this weekend, I will be completely moved out of this town and into my new one.

It's officially New Adventure Time.

Here's the plan for making July awesome:

I'm normally a very positive person, so even though this whole moving thing has gotten me down lately, I'm ready to do what I can to get psyched (including using ridiculous phrases like "get psyched").

  2. I cried at the end of my long-term sub position! I was fine all day; but then when everything was cleaned up, kids gone, and I erased my name from the board...I lost it! LOL.

  3. I cried when I had to move too...it was even in the same district just to a different building. Our rooms are our homes away from home. Stay positive I'm betting you have a position before you know. Good luck!

  4. I totally understand how you feel! I'm moving school sites and packed up my room in June. I also cried on the way home. It was such a weird feeling knowing that I wouldn't be back in that room and back at that school. I will definitely miss all the kids and my colleagues. But life is all about change and new adventures! Good luck and I know something wonderful will happen for ya!

  5. Definitely not the only one! I did the same thing this year since I am moving to a new school. Sad and excited all at the same time...

  7. Hi Jenny! I found your blog through The Learning Tree linky. Change is never easy, even when it's a good change. I'd be emotional too. I'm sure you have great things ahead of you! I love the pledge activity you discussed in the previous post. This is definitely something I need to take time to do. Glad to be your newest follower!

  8. I think it's great that you love your job so much that you have those feelings. That makes you an excellent teacher!

Also, in addition to my personal blog, Beyond the Gradebook, I have also just started a new teaching blog, and I'd love for you to stop by! Elementary Exploration

  9. It’s perfectly understandable why leaving is a sad affair, since it's a place where you've made plenty of memories. Stay positive, Jenny! The new classroom you transferred will surely be as lovely and remarkable as this one. Good luck to your future teaching endeavors!
