End of Break.

Well. It's Sunday night already.

It is amazing to me how quickly a week can go, isn't it?

I managed to go the entire Spring Break without going to my classroom, which is actually not a good thing. I'm cringing thinking about how I left it on Friday, and I had really planned to go in and spend a day just getting things back under control, but it didn't happen.

All I did for school this break was to cut out a little laminating, grade a few papers, buy a few postcards, and download a million new school things from the Internet. That counts, right?

I spent the rest of the time discovering Pop Up Video Jersey Shore (yes, it's a guilty pleasure only made more addicting by the Pop Up Video factoids), inventing brownie chip pancakes (because I forgot we were out of chocolate chips), and finishing L.A. Noire with my husband (a fantastic video game where you are a detective in 40's L.A. and you have to determine if people are lying or not).

I'm not feeling too badly yet, but I know tomorrow morning I will feel all kinds of guilty.

I know, I know, we all need time off- but come on, taking just ONE day at school, I could have caught up so much! Is anyone else like that? I know in my head that we need a break, but it's so hard for me to let myself take one.

Okay, okay, I was at least a little productive. I took a tiny trip to Texas and got to show some support for my husband. I finally got around to getting my new IDs and making my new name 'official' during Spring Break (...despite getting married last summer). I finished my taxes after only a minor freakout.

I also started really posting regularly on this blog last Sunday, and it now has over 40 followers. (Definitely did not expect that to happen.) The benchmark of 50 followers is so close I can taste it- so here's a sneak peek at the week ahead:

(Shhh... some of my photos are old :)

Thanks so much for your comments and your willingness to take a chance on following a new blog. You have no idea the joy I feel when someone tells me they're going to use my idea in their classroom, or when I see that they've pinned one of my images on Pinterest. It makes me feel like, even though I'm a new teacher who probably should've spent a day of Spring Break making her room look like less of a disaster area, I must be doing something alright!

Have a terrific week!

  1. I know exactly how you feel! Even though I only had a regular weekend, I left my room in a dis.as.ter on Friday, meaning to go in for just a little while on Saturday to take care of a few things. . .yet, here I am, Monday morning, fully not even intending to go in too very early, lol.

Glad you were able to enjoy your break! Good luck today!

    1. I always SAY I'm going to go in, but I never seem to fit it in. It's too bad- I could get so much done!

Thanks! The day was... interesting, but overall went pretty well!

  2. Jersey Shore Pop Up Video? I must find and watch this!!!

LA Noire? Are they making that into a TV Show. I hear an interview with one of the guys who died on Walking Dead and he said he was going to be on a show called that. The video game sounds cool.

    1. Try VH1 in the evenings. They've been playing the first season with pop-ups, and it's really interesting.

I just looked it up. Apparently there is an L.A. Noir TV show coming out that's not based on the game, but takes place in the same city and same time period with a similar premise, so it's pretty similar.

I have loved the video game. I'm not much of a gamer especially, but this one is following crimes, looking for evidence, chasing down bad guys, interrogating suspects... all kinds of cool stuff. They did motion capture stuff for the faces and it looks so close to video. It's good enough that I recognized one of the actors. It's been a lot of fun to play with my husband, because he'll tend to take over the parts that require more video game skill, but we can both try to figure out if we are going to believe someone's testimony as truth, doubtful, or a lie.

  3. I would love to go in for just a day to catch up...or on a Saturday. We are not allowed to go in on the weekends and over breaks, our custodians must be there to let us in.

I'm glad you enjoyed your Spring Break! Mine is this week and I have a million things on my To Do List that I hope to get done.
